Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Concerts Society Appeal Only
Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Master of the Queen’s Music, is writing a piece for 2 choirs and organ to be performed at the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral on Saturday, 13th December 2008 at 7:30 p.m. It will be performed by the Cathedral and Cantata Choirs under the direction of Timothy Noon, (Director of Music), with Richard Lea, Organ. The composer, who has visited Liverpool many times, will attend. This 20 minute piece will form an exciting finale to the city’s Capital of Culture year. The Cathedral Concerts Society, a registered charity whose members are all amateurs, has commissioned this piece for the reduced rate of £15,000. Further expenses, including the recording of the piece, will come to an additional £5,000. We have received a grant from the Culture Company of £5,000 but still need to raise the remainder. If you can help in any way – no donation is too small – we would be most grateful. If you are a UK taxpayer, please don’t forget to tick the Gift Aid option on the Checkout page. If you would like your name to appear in the list of donors, remember not to tick the Anonymous option on that page. Sponsorship opportunities exist for companies for this event. Please email john.moseley@st-edwards.liverpool.sch.uk for further information.
