Post Office For Pudsey
In 2008 The BBC Children in Need Appeal raised over £38 million and for every penny you give to the charity, a penny goes towards projects helping disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
This year BBC Children in Need are asking the UK to 'Do Something Different' to raise money. The charity's vision is a society where each and every child and young person is supported to realise their potential.
BBC Children in Need provide support in the form of grants to organisations working with children who may have experienced mental, physical or sensory disabilities; behavioural or psychological disorders; are living in poverty or situations of deprivation; or suffering through distress, abuse or neglect.
The size and scale of The BBC Children in Need Appeal means that they are able to give grants to hundreds of different organisations, some of which are very small and don't have the resources to fundraise for themselves.
A small amount can make a big difference -
£5 would pay for a child living in poverty to experience their first Christmas Party.
£15 would pay for 1 hour of specialist nursing for a severely disabled child in respite care.
£35 would allow a child with cancer to take part in a fun family outdoor activity session.
£90 would provide a child who is living in a hostel for displaced families with their own individual toy box.
£100 would provide a baby from a home that has experienced domestic violence with a safe cot to sleep in at night.
