The Cheshire and North Wales Human Milk Bank was establishes in 2003 and is based at the Countess of Chester Hospital. On average we process 1000 litres of donated breast milk each year. Our coverage for donors and recipients of human breast milk spans from Barrow in Furness to Cardiff and From Grimsby to Bangor
We aim to have a regional service whereby all babies have access to donated breast milk irrespective of the location if their birth. Research demonstrates that these sick and premature babies can have their chances of survival and long term development substantially improved if fed with breast milk.
