Countess of Chester Hospital Stroke Area Fund (9132)

Countess of Chester Hospital Stroke Service has moved forward with time. We currently have a 22 beddedd hyperacute stroke unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital and a further 15 bedded rehabilitation area at Ellsemere Port Hospital.

During the hyperacute phase we sometimes use a clot busting treatment which helps people’s recovery following a stroke. We usually monitor people for the first 48 – 72 hours after their stroke closely. This is very useful not only for the clot busting treatment  but also helps us in assessing them to find out the cause of the stroke and also identifying the causes earlier so that we act upon it earlier before people deteriorate following the stroke.

Currently we have four monitors in the unit which get used almost all the time.  We are planning to buy some more monitors to help us to cope with this demand. We would appreciate it if you could make a donation to help with this purchase.

To upgrade ASAA where & when needed e.g. purchase of equipment. To support staff training.
