Hands Across the Sea Appeal

Hands Across the Sea dedicate most of their time assisting small islands with support in education, development, healthcare and conservation work.

4 years ago on boxing day 2008 the tsunami hit Sri Lanka where more than 31,000 people lost their lives and over 100,000 homes where destroyed. Thousands of people helped produce £50,000 from the most generous donors all over the world for this cause to re-build the environment, education and healthcare and most of all give them hope.

Flo Clucas who is Councellor of Liverpool City Cuncil flew over to Sri Lanka to see what this money has helped acheive. Flo also took with her a microphone to record some of the conversations with the people most affected by the Tsunami to see just how the people where affected and what this money meant to them.

BBC Radio Merseyside in benefit of the anniversary of the Tsunami played the recordings on Christmas Eve. They are in parts 1-4 and you can listen to each part below.
