A cheque payment is made on the the understanding that it is a donation for charitable purposes only and is not a payment for goods or services supplied.
Payments can only be made to organisations in Great Britain and Northern Ireland recognised by the Inland Revenue as being charitable.
The charity will receive the full face value of the cheque.
The donor has received tax relief on donations received into the individuals Freedom Account so no further tax can be claimed by the charity.
