About Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is a flexible scheme which allows anyone who pays UK income tax to give regularly and on a tax free basis to the charities and good causes of their choice.
- Any donation will be deducted from your wages before you are assessed for tax
- In order for you to make pre-tax donations your employer will need to be registered with a payroll giving agency such as Charities Trust. E mail Charities Trust if you would like to us to check if your employer already has a payroll giving scheme in place. info@charitiestrust.org
- A donation of £5.00 per month, for example, costs you at standard rate tax, only £4.00, and if you are on the 40% tax band your donation will only cost you £3.00. Use the payroll giving calculator on this page to see how much your donation will be worth to your chosen charity and how much it will actually cost you after tax relief.
Once you have pledged your tax effective donation, you can split the donation to benefit as many charities as you wish. The administration charge is not affected and regardless of how many charities you choose the charge stays the same, for example;
Charity 1 - £1.00
Charity 2 - £1.00
Charity 3 - £1.00
Charity 4 - £1.00
Charity 5 - £1.00
The administration charge is pro rata against the amount of charities chosen, each charity will receive 95p.
Charities Trust is the most cost effective agency in the UK and charges 25p per month to administer tax effective donations. Charities Trust encourages employers to pay the administration on behalf of their employees. If your employer does not do this, why not ask to see it the will give this small commitment, which in turn will support your chosen charity or good cause. - You can vary your choice of charity, add or delete charities at any time by simply informing Charities Trust by e mail.
- You can increase or decrease your donations or stop at any time by informing Charities Trust by e mail and informing your payroll department.
- Charities Trust only charges a small administration fee of 25p per donation, as Charities Trust wants to ensure that the charities selected by you receive maximum funds. If you donate to more than one charity only 25p is deducted and this is split between the charities
- Your employer may pay the administration fees and some employers also match employees' payroll giving donations.
