Centre 56 Soars Above the Rest as over £15,000 is raised as Cherie Blair is welcomed as their New Patron!
An exciting event for Charities Trust and Centre 56 happened last week as fellow Liverpudlian Cherie Blair took on the dizzy heights of the Liverpool Panoramic Restaurant for a glamorous luncheon, courtesy of its owner Mr Hugh Frost. A double celebration occured high above the Liverpool City Skyline, as Cherie joined the Centre as their new Patron along with celebrating it’s soaring success over the past 25 years of helping others.
56 very special friends and supporters of the refuge, which protects women and children in Merseyside who have been subjected to the most horrific forms of Domestic Violence, joined Mrs. Blair for some food for thought, as she discussed the value of the work the Centre is doing to provide 24 hour care and support for families who have suffered terribly.
The event created a fun twist to fundraising with the help of the children at the centre who decorated 56 mini Lambanana's with feathers, paints and buttons to give to guests to receive some great prizes from Charities Trust's incredible friends. There was also a live auction, which raised £1,000 an In The Bag prize and plenty of other wonderful gifts up for grabs that helped raise over £15,000.
Debbie Thompson, Head of Commercial Operations at Saints Rugby Club, one of the 56 friends has said:
"Centre 56 is truly an amazing charity which deserves to be celebrated, Saints Rugby Club have been actively supporting them this season and are delighted to join in the celebrations with h
anding over this huge cheque and welcoming Cherie Blair as their Patron."
Both Charities Trust and Centre 56 had every faith this event would be a great success and it was, with individual and corporate donations, like Debbie's, pouring in even prior to the event, Cherie was surround by not just the wonderful City views but plenty of big cheques from everyone's kind generosity!
Cheri made a visit to the Centre prior to the event to meet some of the women and children.
Centre 56 and Charities Trust also had a little thank you for Cherie with the lovely artwork from Tula Moon and it's owner Steph Dekker and a personalised Everton FC football shirt.
