Surge in donations for organisations working with street children in India
Since the success of Slumdog Millionaire, there has been a substantial increase in donations to Indian Street Children Charities.
Slumdog Millionaire directed by Danny Boyle and written by Simon Beufoy on the back of the original novel entitled Q & A written by Indian author Vipak Swarup, has become world renowned and has obviously struck such a chord within the film industry and within the hearts of the people.
Since Slumdog Millionaire was screened at the Toronto film festival it was given a very small release within North America on November 12th. It was later released nationwide in January 2009 in both the UK and the US due to the success of the screenings.
Slumdog Millionaire became a huge hit extremely fast both within the UK and the US awarding them 8 Academy Awards, Four Golden Globes, 5 Critics Choice Awards and an astonishing 7 BAFTA Awards.
The success of the film has had a significant impact on charities who have a large involvement with street children, particularly in India, which the films focus is mainly on. People have been so touched by the film, charities who are involved with this kind of charitable work have seen a tremendous increase in donations and interest.
