THE MATHEWS HARLAND TRUST - HELPING CHILDREN SPEAK OUT
The Mathews Harland Trust has been set up to help children with communication difficulties achieve their full potential through accessing appropriate help and schooling.
Twenty-five percent of children have some form of communication difficulty, which may be the result of a hearing impairment, motor difficulties such as Cerebral Palsy, Learning difficulties, Autistic spectrum disorders, or even brain injury. What ever the cause, these difficulties will affect their lives not only in learning and social interaction, but also their emotional development.
The Mathews Harland Trust may fund specialist assessments such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, psychological or medical evaluations. The Trust will also fund treatment and where appropriate, help parent's legal presentation at the special Educational Needs Tribunals. The vision of the trust is to enable children with communication difficulties to have all the help and support they need.
