The Old Vic Christmas Cracker 2009 goes off with a bang as Kevin Spacey pulls it off again!!
Kevin Spacey, special guests and Charities Trust worked hard at the 2009's Old Vic Christmas Cracker event with thousands being raised to support The Old Vic Foundation, supporting young, new and emerging talent.
Hosted at the dynamic venue Sketch, among moving imagery, egg shaped toilets and strange but wonderful artwork, the heart of London hosted the event of the year with Kevin Spacey and special guests relaxed and ready to show some Christmas spirit towards The Old Vic Theatre Foundation and Charities Trust in the very appropriate "White Room".
Charities Trust had the wonderful pleasure of working with the artistic and fundraising team from The Old Vic Theatre and Sketch to help organise the star studded event to raise money for two great causes.
The evening was hosted by The Old Vic‘s very own Artistic Director, Kevin Spacey and our very special Charities Trust CEO Lorraine O'Brien. Both delivered great opening speeches that kick started the generous atmosphere that themed the night.
With the fantastic food and drink being enjoyed by all the donating could commence, as Charities Trust members and other helpers began to gather up the generosity from around the room with Chocolate box and baubles donations to "Light up the Tree" at the end of the evening.
The night also consisted of great live entertainment from the likes of Ronnie Corbett, John Culshaw, Lee Mead, a glowing Denise Van Outen, Tom Baxter and some of The Old Vic's very own young talents from The Old Vic New Voices programme.
Even a surprise performance from Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) wowed the guests with new and old tracks along with the hidden voice of Kevin Spacey himself, gracing the stage to show off his never ending talent.
Overall the evening raised thousands of pounds for The Old Vic foundation and Charities Trust, with extra bounces on the night from Yusuf Islam and the artist Tracey Emin, who both donated personal studio time with them to be auctioned off with the other fantastic prizes, resulting in even more money being raised!!
The night ended with guests feeling fully entertained and satisfied as Kevin Spacey sang one last Christmas song surrounded by falling snow and a well lit Christmas tree.
A perfect ending to a wonderful evening.
