On Sunday 3rd August 2008
....we came, we saw and we left as John Wayne.
Well what can we say apart from, OUCH! But we did it! 3 Peaks, 26 miles in 11hrs 37mins.
There were times when we questioned our sanity, namely at 5.30am on Sunday morning when the alarm went off, or as we made our ascent to the first peak Pen-y-ghent with the wind, rain and fog swirling around us, then of course there was the final ascent on Ingleborough when the walk turned into a crawl. But we dug deep, day dreamed of the tender fillet steaks and pints of Black Sheep awaiting us at the finish line and with a lot of team spirit and pain killers conquered the peaks.
Of course this wasn't about us testing our endurance levels. It was a chance for us to do something different for the areas in which we work and thanks to your kind generosity we have raised a substantial amount of money for our four chosen charities:
Weston Park Hospital Men's Cancer Appeal - Sheffield, Park Hill
The Corner House Youth Project - Stockton, Northshore
Bradford Nightstop - Bradford, Lister Mills
Leeds Women's Aid - Leeds, Saxton
and are well on our way to our £8,000 target.
A big thank you to everyone who has kindly pledged money to us on this site or in person - we really appreciate it!
There have been rumours that next year we may tackle the National 3 Peaks Challenge but we'll wait until the blisters, aching limbs and chaffing have subsided before we go making any promises!
