Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Having watched a friend compete in a novice triathlon last summer and subsequently as many TV triathlons since, I have been caught by the triathlon bug, so much so that I have entered the 2009 Mazda London Triathlon to be held on the 2nd of August. In a moment of madness I decided that I wanted a challenge, I did the Nottingham half marathon run three years ago (1hr 45m 55s) but running is not really my thing. I enjoy my cross London cycle ride and that got me thinking about the triathlon! But to take it a step further I plumped for the Olympic distance rather than the Novice as I stupidly thought that I would prefer a marathon type challenge. Oh well here goes! My task therefore is to tranform this 43 year old, 220 lb armchair enthusiast into a multi sport athlete ready for a 1500 meter swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run, competing in the biggest Olympic Distance Triathlon in the world. To add spice to my challenge I have decided to support Barnado's who are my company's official charity partner. I used to work in Barkingside, where they (Barnado's) have their head office so I am familiar with the great things that they do. Donating through the Charities Trust is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Barnardo's gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, The Charitieis Trust makes sure 28% in Gift Aid are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now! You can keep up to date with my progress by visiting my 'Trying to Tri' blog at http://walkontheweb.wordpress.com/
