Rach & Charlie's Challenge 2009
My Donations to date: £1119.21
Fundraiser(s): Rachael & Charlie
Event: Duathlon
Event Date: 27th September 2009
Charitie(s) Supported: The Welsh Guards Welfare Fund,Mark Evison Foundation,

Following the success of last year's fundraising event (£1500 to Power Int'l/ Help for Heroes, New York Marathon- thank you so much!) I've decided to step things up a gear and roped in Rach to keep me company.
This year's challenge is a staged duathlon: 2 half marathons and a c. 400 mile cycle from London to Lands End (could be longer, depends on how lost we get!). The challenge starts this weekend with Wycombe Half Marathon- wish me luck!
Events:
Wycombe Half Marathon (19th July) - DONE! 2hrs06 against all food poisoning odds (!) and the world's biggest hill (potential exaggeration but artistic license allowed considering current pain levels)
London to Lands End cycle (16th August) - DONE! A lot harder than we thought, it turns out the south west is rather hilly.... Thanks to everyone who put us up and fed us en route, we really appreciate it.
New Forest Half Marathon (27th September) - DONE! Hot and hilly (I've just noticed there's a bit of a theme here- not part of the plan). 2hrs 10 for me (should have trained...), 1hr 54 for Rach (awesome effort). Over. No more running. Ever.
The cause:
Rather close to home this time- The Mark Evison Foundation & The Welsh Guards in Afghanistan Fund. Some of you will know my longtime buddy Steph Brownridge who is currently in Afghanistan with the Welsh Guards. Mark was a friend and colleague who was shot in Afghanistan and died of his wounds in May of this year. His friends and family have established the Mark Evison Foundation to promote physical, mental and personal development in young individuals.

Further to this funds will be split with the Welsh Guards in Afghanistan Fund which provides support to the families of those killed in action and to those wounded on operations.
Please show your support for them and the foundation and donate here. Thanks very much!
PS- if anyone lives along the A30 and feels like having two rather sweaty & weary girls for a night w/c 15th August we will happily bring along tales of cycling woe (most likely) - what an offer!
