Chris A - 54 miles in 24 hours over the Brecon Beacon

The Challenge

This team-based endurance challenge will see individuals tackle 54 miles of some of the best running and walking trails the UK has to offer - the challenge being for each team to complete the route (54 miles) within 24 hours. Crossing the highest peaks in the Brecon Beacons and South Wales - Pen y Fan (886m), Corn Du (873m), Cribyn (795m) and Fan y Big (719m) we assure you ThunderWalk will be as breathtaking, as it is challenging.

The Charity

The ROYALl MARINES CHARITABLE TRUST FUND works closely with other charities particularly in the field of benevolence.

It relies on Case Worker reports from the Royal British Legion or SSAFA which identify the scale of need. It then contributes to resolving the issues usually with support from organisations such as the Royal British Legion, Royal Naval Benevolent Trust, the Royal Navy Officers Charity, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Children's Fund or other more specialised charities depending on the nature of the case - a process known as almonisation.

Support is provided with the absolute minimum of bureaucracy and budgets are delegated to key personnel thus obviating the need for multiple approvals in every case. In cases where other charities are unable to help, the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund will try to meet the need in its entirety from its own resources.

The Royal Marines Charitable Trust fund also works with Help For Heroes, and they have provided a Quick Reaction Fund to help support our wounded.
