I plan to run 100 kilometres in 10 weeks starting in Leeds on the 4th July, at 'Jane Tomlinson's Leeds 10k run' and finishing with 'The Great Yorkshire Run' in Sheffield on 5th September. An average of 10 kilometres a week. I am running for 2 charities; Bliss and the Alzheimers Society.
I have chosen Bliss, because of the support they gave my Sister Shellee and her husband Mick when my beautiful little twin Nieces, Evelin and Erin were born premature. Unfortunately, Erin lost the fight after only a few days, but Evelin today, is a gorgeous, ray of light, who is a testament to what hope and a whole lot of love can bring.
I have also chosen Alzheimer's society, as I believe it is a charity which does not get the support or coverage it deserves, and I have a feeling I will probably get it someday, so it can't hurt!!
I thought of running 10k and thought it not good enough to warrant asking people for money, so thought I would test myself. With work constraints and pregnant wife duties, I settled on 100k in 10 weeks, which is fairly testing I think you'll agree.
As a bit of fun, and also to keep track on my own performance during the challenge, I will link up my runs with my Twitter page @oddo1977. The runs are from my Nike+ widget in my shoe so they won't lie!
Anyway give what you can I will do my best for you!!
