On the 20th August 2008 my nephew Isaac was born 8 weeks prematurely at the Countess of Chester hospital. He was the second of my nephews to be born premature and to have a difficult start to life. However, thanks to the fantastic work of the Special Care Baby unit at the hospital both Isaac and his big brother James are happy and healthy. The Special Care Baby Unit has 16 cots and a team of dedicated specialist nurses and doctors who provide round the clock care for their very young patients. They care for around 300 sick and premature babies each year but would love to have more equipment to expand the department.
Since Isaac’s early arrival I’ve decided to try and raise some funds for the SCBU by asking for sponsorship for the Great North Run. Please give whatever you can afford to help tiny babies and make yourself feel good for the rest of the day!
Update: Thanks to all of you who took the time to sponsor me. I did the GNR in 1.52.06 but that doesn't mean you can't sponsor me if you haven't already *cough Helen/ Katherine/ Gerald cough*
