Kilimanjaro International Challenge
Fundraising Target: £3500
My Donations to date: £2005
Fundraiser(s): Sarah Sergeant
Event: Kilimanjaro International Challenge
Event Date: 01st September 2010
Charitie(s) Supported: Epilepsy Scotland Glasgow Branch,
Each person's experience of epilepsy is unique. Epilepsy is the most common, serious neurological disorder in the world.
Nearly 40,000 people living in Scotland have epilepsy. Children and older people are most at risk of developing this common serious neurological condition but anyone can develop epilepsy at any time - and 8 people a day in Scotland do. We want to make sure the needs of people with epilepsy are met. This is why we campaign for improved healthcare, better information provision and an end to stigma.
Epilepsy is not an easy cause to raise money for and every single penny counts. The majority of the charities income comes from small donations made by a large number of people. They really do appreciate contributions of any size and all donations will be put to very good use.
Epilepsy Scotlands small but dedicated fundraising team have to raise almost £500,000 every year to keep our vital services running and help the 40,000 people in Scotland who have epilepsy.
To help this cause I will be trekking to the Roof of Africa!! Standing at an impressive 5,895m over the African plains, Mt Kilimanjaro is one of Africa's best highlights and on reaching the summit of Uruhu Peak, I will have just summated the Worlds highest free-standing mountain and also, bagged one of the Worlds Seven Highest Summits. This challenging trek follows the much less trodden Lemosho Glades route. Our challenge consists of 8 days on the mountain.
(For those of you who know me you will know how much of a challenge this is going to be and I will be living in the gym for the next year!!)
Any support you can offer no matter how big or small is MUCH appreciated as every penny counts!
