Lia's Parachute for a Pooch Story! Hi my name is Lia, I'am 21 years old and I am taking on the challange to do a Free Fall Parachute Jump for Battersea Dog's & Cats Home! This will take place on the 30th January 2010! I am hoping to raise at least £500! and hopefully more! I appricate every £1 you donate to such a worthy chairty!

I have always loved animals and they are always going to be part of my life! some of the cases I have seen truly make me sick! a few months ago me & my family rescued Hope from Battersea ( my mum works here) she was found stray on a roundabout in Surrey. She was hours away from death! Hope was given her name as she pulled through her tragic nightmare! she had mange, open wounds, and was eating her own flesh!! she had no fur just some on her head she was bald all over and never thought her fur would grow back! but this bright, jumpy and young dog! is well! she has pulled through, her fur has grown back ( just about) and she is such a bundle of joy! thanks to the hard work at Battersea dogs home they brought Hope back to life! now this is just one case think of how many cases there are out there, and we need your help! so please sponsor me on this Parachute Jump! so I can rasie money for the dogs & cats that need your help! ( Please see my pictures of Hope on my page!)

What I will be doing in January 2010!! Just imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet! the noise of the engines & the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway & letting go - falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at 120mph!!! This is what I will be doing all in aid for Battersea Dogs & cat Home!!

Here below is some infomation about what Battersea do every year to help these animals out!

since 1860!! Established in 1860, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home never turns away a dog or cat in need of our help. We reunite lost dogs and cats with their owners through our Lost Dogs & Cats Line or care for them until new homes can be found for them, giving them shelter and the highest standards of kennelling and veterinary care. We were the first animal welfare organisation to establish a dedicated Behaviour Unit and our experienced staff give every animal that comes into our Home a detailed temperament and behavioural assessment. We offer extra training and socialisation to those that need it and detailed help and advice to new pet owners with behaviour programmes and through our Behaviour Advice Line. We also educate the public about every aspect of responsible pet ownership. For an overview of what we do please watch our short film entitled ''All about Battersea' below which was filmed across our three sites and features many of our staff and residents. It provides a great introduction to our work and is played in all of our reception areas and at the events that we attend. It really does sum up why Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is so special.
