Mayor of Bath does the Bath Half

Mayor of Bath does the Bath Half

I've agreed to run this year's Bath Half Marathon on 6th March. Training is tough this year fitting sessios with my PT Kate Burles around mayoral engagements, but i'm up to over 10 mile runs... Unsurprisingly, I'm running for my charity, the Mayor of Bath's Relief Fund, which supports local residents in financial hardship.

As a local councillor here in Bath for the last eleven and a half years I have seen at first hand the good work the Mayor of Bath's Relief Fund grants make to the lives of local residents in the city who are facing financial hardship. The Mayor of Bath's Relief Fund supports local residents in Bath would are in financial hardship and are unable to access other sources of funding. (Further details below...)

So, please please sponsor me!

Cheers,
Cllr Shaun McGall
783rd Mayor of Bath

The Mayor of Bath's Relief Fund was set up many years ago to help the citizens of Bath. (Registered Charity No 204649).

The Charity Commission terms state that:

# The Trustees shall apply the income of the Charity in relieving Bath residents who are in need, hardship or distress by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or facilities.

# Grants of between £50 and £350 are given dependant on the individual case.

# This fund is the last resort for most who have already exhausted all other channels such as Social Security, Social Services and other local charities.

# The grants given help to pay bills, provide carpets, basic second-hand furniture and appliances and school uniforms.  One key criterion is that children should have clean clothes, hot food and a warm house.

# Grants are not given for tuition fees nor rent arrears as the fund is not linked to the Council in any way.

If you can't donate online, then donations may be sent directly to:

Application forms are held by health visitors, social services and the Citizens' Advice Bureau etc, and any approach for assistance must be made by a member of staff from any of these organisations and not directly by the person who is to receive Fund help.

The administration of applications transferred to Bath Municipal Charities on 22 July 2009.  The function of the charity has not changed and any previous copies of the application forms can still be used.  Any sent to the Mayor's Office will be forwarded to the new address below.
