I was diagnosed with UC whilst pregnant with my daughter.  It was a terrible!  Crohns and colitis UK helped me come to terms with it and understand the disease.  3 years on my disease got so bad that I had to have my colon removed and given a permanent ileostomy (a bag) ostomy lifestyle was there for me and also trained me to help others.  Stomawise is run by two friends of mine includingh the beautiful young amy.  stomawise are an amazing resource for information and support.  Before my surgery my wonderful step dad died from mesothelioma, a terminal form of lung cancer caused by asbestosis.  He loved me, helped me and supported me, even when I was sick.
