Hi all you soon to be life saving sponsors!...PLEASE!! So, once again I embarking on a slightly more lengthy endurance adventure but this time i have some friends to join the MADNESS. A brief run down of the event.... A team of 5 fellow DB Employees and I will be running the 80 miles to Dover, then making a brief appearance in our speedos (no wetsuits allowed) to swim (the 30 miles) across the English Channel and finish off with a 180 mile cycle through to the Arc de triomphe in Paris! The Cash with definately be going to a worthy cause: The first reputable charity is the Angus Lawson Memorial Trust; The ALMT is a children’s charitable trust the purpose of which is to make funds available to support directly to children from an educational or health care perspective. The trust has supported worldwide, but is now focusing mainly on inner-city kids in London, deaf and blind kids in Romania and a school and orphanage in India. The second well-renown organization is CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids), which provides respite breaks to the UK's disadvantaged children struggling with the impact of poverty, abuse and neglect. Many are dealing with the devastating effects of physical, emotional or sexual abuse. In addition, they offer respite breaks to young careers that look after parents with physical disabilities, mental health or drug and alcohol problems. CHICKS enable children to be children again, to build self-confidence and experience positive adult role models through traditional ‘family’ activities, such as, swimming, horse riding, painting pictures or just playing in the open air at CHICKS two centers in south west England.
