Teams4U has partnered with the local health authority in the Dokolo district to help facilitate aprogramme to fight HIV/AIDS in the area. Dokolo has a HIV rate of 8% which is well above the national average.
There are an estimated 9,540 persons with HIV/AIDS who are in need of care, treatment and support services.
Only 13% of the population has been tested and less than 20% of school going children have received adequate information on preventing spread of the disease.
Therefore it is vital for the local health authorities to conduct further testing to understand the full scale of the problem as well as raise awareness to tackle it effectively.
The local health authorities however struggle to reach remote communities to communicate their vital life saving messages.
Sports & Education
Teams4U's sports programmes are a great tool to facilitate interaction with people on a large scale.
Sports are a fun and engaging way of bringing people together.
Through our sports teams, we are enabling the health officers to engage with schools and the local community to carry out their programme that focuses on prevention, testing and treatment services.
