Cancer Research UK - are the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research.
More than one in three of us will still get cancer at some point. Their vital work, funded entirely by the public, will help ensure that millions more people survive. They've saved millions of lives with their groundbreaking work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. People's chances of surviving cancer have doubled in the last 40 years, and they've been at the heart of that progress.
Cancer Research UK works with over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses across the UK to investigate all aspects of cancer. They carry out world-class research to improve the understanding of cancer and find out how to prevent, diagnose and treat different kinds of cancer. They also provide information to try and prevent cancer and help people cope with its effects. This information goes to cancer patients, their families, health professionals and to the general public.
Lindsey Lodge Hospice - offers very special care for people in the North Lincolnshire area living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease. Every year hundreds of patients, families and loved ones receive loving, specialised nursing and medical care which is sensitive to peoples individual needs. This care and support is provided free of charge.
Lindsey Lodge Hospice delivers both end of life care and services that help people to maintain a quality of life even though they have a life limiting condition. They have both in-patient and day care facilities. The care they provides extends to the whole family not just the patient and they offer psychological, physical, social and spiritual support services for the patient and their carers both during the illness and into the bereavement period.
Lindsey Lodge costs over £1.9 million a year to run. Although the hospice receives some funding from the NHS, they need to raise over £1.3 million every year to meet the rest of the running costs. They are always grateful for any charitable support.
