Event: Simien mountain trek
Event Date: 21st October 2009
Charitie(s) Supported: Ethiopi Aid,

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. As some of you already know, I am planning to trek across the Simien mountains in Ethiopia in October this year. I am paying for all the costs myself, so any money you donate to me will go directly to Ethiopiaid.
The Simien Mountains are one of the major highlands of Africa, rising to their highest point in Ethiopia, Ras Dejen (4,620m), the fourth highest peak in the African continent. The summit is tough, and is followed by a challenging ridge route, topping several 4,000m peaks en route. The trek will take 8 days in total, and will see us walking 161km.
I'm putting myself through this ordeal in aid of a fantastic little charity called Ethiopiaid. Ethiopiaid has been supporting grassroots projects in Ethiopia for 20 years. They support projects run by local NGOs working to improve access to education and healthcare and reduce poverty for some of Ethiopia's poorest people. The projects are mainly centred around Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. For more information on Ethiopiaid's work, please go to ethiopiaid.org.uk
I desperately need your help to reach my fundraising target of £1,500, so please do think about sponsoring me.
